RESEARCH INTERESTS

His research focuses on intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Active research areas include intelligent vehicle-infrastructure cooperative systems, analysis of urban transportation systems, urban road network management, traffic data fusion and dissemination, and urban traffic control and management. His research fields also cover the advanced control theory and applications, advanced detection and measurement, and systems engineering, etc.


FORMER POSITIONS / PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

He joined Tsinghua University as a faculty member in the Department of Automation in 1989 and then became the associate professor in 1997 and professor in 2002.

He was named as the guest professor for the University of Science and Technology at Wuhan from 2006 and the guest professor for the Harbin Institute of Technology from 2012.

PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY SERVICE WORK

Dr. ZHANG was on the expert committee for the advanced transportation technology projects of the 863 Program (China Hi-Tech R&D Program) in 2007-2012. He was served as the member of GAC for WEF on Personal Transportation 2011-2013 and is now on Automobile and Personal transportation. He also serves as the member of International Advisory Board for the National Institute of Informatics at Japan.
