Direction of Research:
The Sensors and Microsystems Lab uses micro/nano fabrication technologies as the core to address issues related to design, process and application of micro sensors and actuators, flexible and wearable systems, implantable devices, and intelligent systems based on multi-sensor data fusion techniques.
Focus on:
- High performance micro sensors, flexible materials, and micro/nano materials.
- Applications of micro sensors in wearable systems, non-invasive blood glucose detections, AR/VR, robotic tactile sensing, olfaction, etc.
- Artificial intelligence system based on multi-sensor data fusion.

Nano-devices

Direction of Research:
With the rapid development of modern science and technology as well as the miniaturization of electronic devices, we begin to enter the post-Moore era. Towards the internet of everything (IoE) in coming future, we need to overcome the global challenges on the need of broad bandwidth, compact, low power consumption,low cost and functional photonic devices. Photonic Integration technology will play its unique role with the intrinsic advantages of light, to support the further development of future information technology, and opens up a new chapter for us. Based on this, the main research goal of Nano-Devices Laboratory is to investigate the novel optoelectronic effects in micro/nano photonic structures, and to study the core technology of our fabricated photonic devices for sensing and communications applications.

Internet of Things and Societal Cyber Physical Systems

Direction of Research:
To develop the core technologies of intelligent sensor network systems and sensory data platforms and analytics;To establish a big sensory data Industry-University-Research alliance for smart home and wearable devices applications; To standardize the sensory data acquisition, transmission, access and processing and serve as a specification provider.
Focus on:
Core technologies of smart home and flexible wearable devices; Key technologies of sensory data storage and computing;IOT demonstration system for smart cities;

Future Internet

Direction of Research:
Future Internet Laboratory focuses on the development of next generation Internet and facilitates the development of Internet research of TBSI. It targets on the rapid and healthy development of information technology.
Focus on:
Next-generation network architecture: protocols, theories and applications of next-generation networks, including network management, Information-Centric Networking (ICN), software defined network (SDN), mobile Internet; Cyber security: theories of Cyber security, communication security of Internet, data security and information security; Smart big data analytics: theories, methods and applications of machine learning or / and mobile Internet psychological issues in human-machine interaction).

Direction of Research:
The vision of the laboratory is to conduct cross-disciplinary research on the generation, processing and realizing the value of big data using data- and knowledge-driven approaches, to bridge the gap between big data theories and methods, and industrial applications and services, and to generate high academic and industrial impacts.
Focus on:
Big data processing and analytics (e.g., representation learning and fusion for cross-domain multimodality data);Big data systems and networks (e.g., data-driven edge cloud computing resource management, and multimedia content delivery); Big data applications (e.g., social media, intelligent transportation, smart healthcare);Big data and artificial intelligence (e.g., big data intelligence);Big data and Quantitative Social Science (advanced methodologies and practices in psychology, including but not limited to behavior big data, big data behavioral experiments, virtual reality psychological intervention, psychological issues in human-machine interaction)
